About the Author
Paul Tuohy has been working in application development on IBM midrange systems for 20 years. He has worked as IT manager for Kodak Ireland and technical director for Precision. He is currently CEO of ComCon, an AS/400 consulting company. For the past 11 years, he has been working as an instructor in the IBM Education Center in Dublin, Ireland, specializing in courses in programming and application development.

Mr. Tuohy has updated thousands of RPG programs to incorporate the best that the new versions of RPG and OS/400 have to offer. In this book, he combines this knowledge with his teaching ability to show RPG programmers how to update and enhance their AS/400 legacy applications.

This word is the last word of one of the most famous poems of Japanese literature. When he writes it, Kobayashi Issa has just lost his only child: yes, all is emptiness. But Issa mysteriously adds this last word to his poem, leaving its meaning in suspense. This enigma is the theme of a narrative that brings together the stories of three Japanese artists across the centuries: Issa, the last great Haiku master of the 18th century, Natsume Soseki, inventor of the Japanese modern novel at the end of the 19th century, and Yamahata Yosuke, who was the first photographer to take pictures of the victims and ruins of Nagasaki in August 1945. These three "dreamed lives" make the substance of a narrative that takes the reader from Paris to Kyoto and from Tokyo to Kobe, and asks the question of how anyone can hope to survive the most heartbreaking experience.

Born in Paris in 1962, Philippe Forest is the author of numerous essays on art and literature and of three novels, all published by ditions Gallimard in Paris. His novel SARINAGARA won the Prix Dcembre in 2004. He is currently a professor of literature at the University of Nantes, specializing in avant-gardes.

I was quickly drawn to this book due to the raw gut truth. The authur in these books was truely ordained by God Himself, and you can feel the Spirit of the Most High talking through him in every chapter you read. But I must warn you not to bite off more than you can chew on a daily basis, because of the spiritual strength that you'll get behind reading this book. I'd like to suggest that you read a chapter at a time, so that you give God room in your spirit to allow what He placed in motion to come to past in your life. So, you can expect to read about a chapter per week. Give or take. I will say this: this reading will truely bless you soo much that you'll want to know more...

The late Betty Hart, a psychologist who studied school children in Kansas City, determined that by the age of 3, children raised by professional parents have heard 30 million words spoken to them.

After completing this workbook, your child will have heard 30,000,120 words, many of which are four and five syllables long like equitable and transcontinental.

To date, our family has worked our way up from the First Grade through 4th grade books. However, although several books within each grade level are progressive, particularly in the math series, young scholars can begin their Sylvan studies at any grade.

If you are new to the Sylvan style, you'll appreciate each 8-page color-coded section that covers a specific language skill, followed by a 2-page review. These challenging but inviting exercises feature word-based tic-tac-toe, crossword puzzles, word searches and scrambles, fill-in-the-blanks among a dozen other activities.

Yet, if you are Sylvan family, you'll find more of the clever and comprehensive content you've come to expect. Like ours, your young leaner will fall right into the exercises, recognizing what's expected and understanding how to bring it on home.

Great book for summer learning

Each year I get my children the Sylvan books for the grade they just completed. They do a few pages a day to keep what they learned the past year fresh in their minds. The kids like the books, and look forward to working in them. The teachers always comment that my girls retain alot of what they did the previous year.

This workbook has truly engaged our granddaughter. She works diligently, for extended periods, without complaining. We especially like the repetition format where the same words are presented until she has grasped their meaning and usage.
